The station was by this time looking quite woebegone so a modernisation programme to improve it was started in 1952.
But, there again, the trouble was that, unless it could be manned up all the time, it acquired a rather woebegone look, and it was finally closed down.
But they know also that by cultivating a woebegone appearance they can make an easy living out of a generous hearted public.
