0 any one of the bones which curve round and forward from the backbone, enclosing the heart and lungs -- xương sườn
1 one of the curved pieces of wood which are joined to the keel to form the framework of a boat. -- tấm ván
2 a vertical raised strip in eg knitted material, or the pattern formed by a row of these. -- sườn
3 any of a number of things similar in shape, use etc to a rib, eg one of the supports for the fabric of an aeroplane wing or of an umbrella. -- gọng
These projections are small ribs that have become fused on to the side of the vertebra.
Both internal and external leptotriches were observed as outgrowths of internal and external ribs respectively (fig. 2).
To conclude, there evidently is no precisely definable loss of stability, or onset of ribbing, in symmetric film-splitting between counter-rotating cylinders of finite length.
It should be noted that the data for cylinders with ribs or with pyramidal roughness as well as with spherical roughness show similar trends qualitatively.
Finally, it defines visually the form of the vault, and all of these functions maybe thought of as the 'function' of the rib.
The open areas between the ribs are 27 mm wide and 100 mm high.
The ribs were approximated with a single 2-0 silk tie, the subcutaneous muscle layer was repaired, and the skin closed.
Most of the bones lie in horizontal position but a vertically orientated dentary and rib have been observed.
