On the posterior surface of the condyle the linea aspera (a ridge running down the posterior shaft of the femur) turns into the medial supracondylar ridge.
The median nerve is vulnerable to damage in the supracondylar area, and the ulnar nerve is vulnerable near the medial epicondyle, around which it curves to enter the forearm.
The thick distal lateral aspect attaches to the medial supracondylar ridge.
Additionally, the medial epicondyle is inferior to the medial supracondylar ridge.
This is also known as supracondylar process syndrome.
