0 relating to the acromion (= the outer end of the shoulder blade that forms the highest part of the shoulder) --
Acromial angle is shown in red.
The acromial end has a rough inferior surface that bears a ridge, the trapezoid line, and a small rounded projection, the conoid tubercle.
The flat acromial end of the clavicle is broader than the sternal end.
The lateral surface of the acromial plate is excavated anterior to the acromial ridge and dorsal to the glenoid region.
The ring is composed of the glenoid process, coracoid process, coracoclavicular ligament, distal clavicle, acromioclavicular joint, and acromial process.
The suprascapular artery gives of the acromial branch, which pierces the trapezius muscle and supplies the skin over the acromion, anastomosing with the thoracoacromial artery.
The development of these different acromial shapes is likely both genetic and acquired.
Other anatomical factors that may have significance include os acromiale and acromial spurs.
