The granite occupies the northern parts, whereas in the south the massif is composed of gabbro in the west and leucogabbro in the east.
The latter consist mainly of basaltic pillowed and massif lava flows.
A characteristic feature is that these fields are connected with limestone massifs.
In the southern part of the massif, 'ophiolites' are found as thin slices belonging to higher levels of the high-grade metamorphic unit.
Both these massifs have deep recesses in one side.
In addition, numerous smaller massifs occur scattered in the same general area as the major ones.
The massifs have similar metamorphic and sequential characteristics.
In addition, late brittle faults are clearly visible in the mountain walls in both gneiss and quartz syenite massifs.
