• The iliopsoas runs across the iliopubic eminence through the muscular lacuna to its insertion on the lesser trochanter of the femur.

• Iliopsoas and iliotibial band lengthening can be done arthroscopically.

• It is joined by the iliacus, psoas major forms the iliopsoas which is surrounded by the iliac fascia.

• The pain elicited is due to inflammation of the peritoneum overlying the iliopsoas muscles and inflammation of the psoas muscles themselves.

• The iliacus originates on the iliac fossa to join psoas at the iliopubic eminence to form the iliopsoas which is inserted into the lesser trochanter.

• Weakness is most notable at the iliopsoas, tibialis anterior, and to a lesser extent, hamstring muscles.
