• A 22-year-old pregnant woman was referred for a detailed fetal echocardiogram because an abnormality of the fetal heart was suspected on routine antenatal scanning.

• A 29-year-old pregnant woman was referred to our hospital for a detailed fetal echocardiogram because of a fetal arrhythmia.

• A murmur was noted incidentally at the age of seven weeks, and the echocardiogram showed tricuspid atresia due to absence of the right atrioventricular connection.

• The echocardiogram demonstrated an atrial septal defect within the oval fossa and normal contractility.

• Among patients who are followed with frequent echocardiograms, new lesions are virtually never identified beyond four weeks after the onset of the disease.

• Patient records, catheterization data, cineangiograms and the most recent echocardiograms at latest follow-up were reviewed.
