0 the internet, as a place where organizations and consumers exchange information and do business:
The government e-marketplace allows departments to advertise their requirements and authorised suppliers to post bids.
This means that basically three different constellations are possible for each different type of e-marketplace (business-to-business, business-to-consumer and consumer-to-consumer).
An uncontrolled e-marketplace is entirely open and decentralised; no single site controls the market.
They all need to be solved in a commercial e-marketplace, not only the negotiation problem.
In the controlled e-marketplace the negotiation problem is still very difficult and has been solved successfully only in some special cases.
To start with, the most important attributes of negotiation in the framework of a multi-agent e-marketplace are determined.
The reason is that the standards are set by the makers of the marketplace and not separately by each agent's developer as in an uncontrolled e-marketplace.
However, the success of an agent-based e-marketplace will critically depend on the intelligence of the agents acting there and on their ability to optimally negotiate with each other.
