Why should people be allowed to benefit from lying to the court?
Perhaps in by-elections they can get away with lying to people about the figures.
There are alternative ways of dealing with lying to the court.
There may be genuine difficulty in recollecting exactly what happened, but plain lying to the auditor should be an offence.
