In tissue culture cells the presence of striated rootlets does not correlate with the presence of a primary cilium.
Lateral to the centrioles there is a fibrous body with a striated appearance in longitudinal section.
The final destination is striated muscle where the nematodes remodel host muscle cells and settle in the host.
However, striated rootlets were not observed by these authors.
However, striated platforms are very scarce in the region.
The cervical portion of the oesophagus consists of voluntary striated muscle, and a mixture of striated and smooth involuntary muscle forms the upper thoracic portion.
We have seen the same type of striated rootlets in blastomeres of rabbit morula (unpublished observations).
