It is, of course, only in mountainous country with lakes and corries that this type of scheme can be carried through.
I should have thought the only difficult areas were those with corries and rock dens, where gassing will not work.
The three summits are tightly grouped around a small corrie (glacial cirque), but their spectacular form is due to large-scale landslipping, not ice erosion.
Two ridges run north-east from the summit with one curving north-west to enclose a high corrie.
As well as ski tows, snow fences and bulldozed tracks, this corrie is also now home to a funicular railway.
The tarn is a waterfilled corrie about 50 ft deep, this being enhanced by a dam.
This corrie has a history of previous avalanches.
It has been claimed that this corrie may have contained a glacier as recently as the 18th century.
