It all started with the tuna/dolphin issue when trade won over environmental needs.
In total, more than 400 species - whales, dolphins, manatees, herons, egrets, etc. - were endangered.
It must however be emphasised that we are in favour of introducing arrangements for protecting dolphins and other threatened species.
Vessels participating in this programme are allowed a dolphin mortality limit.
The proposals also bring good news, not just for juvenile fish but for other vulnerable species such as dolphins, sea birds and sharks.
Too many dolphins, porpoises and seals die needlessly due to the use of these nets.
