Examples of limestone

• Limestone fragments and a few silicified grains (chert) are present, within a calcite spar cement.

• The margins of some of the limestone blocks are slickensided.

• The combined effects of less erosion-resistant marly limestone and the columnar jointing of basalts caused the rapid migration of the knickpoint toward the upstream reach.

• The landscape is flat and the geology is dominated by limestone.
