Examples of foliage

• Attention has focused almost exclusively on adult beetles, probably because their larvae are conspicuously missing from tropical foliage.

• An effect of larval food-plant on adult life-span was found with greater longevity in females that had as larvae consumed exclusively lodgepole pine foliage.

• At maturity, plants were cut at soil level, and spikes and foliage were separated, dried and weighed.

• Completely unfolded leaves were picked from intermediate positions on the twig; very young or old foliage was avoided.

• The latter allows some replacement of maintenance foliage, but the height of the plucking table will rise.
