Examples of dermis

• Below the dermis lies the subcutis. 

• Below the epidermis lies the dermis. 

• In the dermis are also millions of tiny nerve endings. 

• Skin is made up of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutis. 

• The nerve endings in the dermis are found at different depths and react to the movement of body hair, pressure, vibration, and temperature. 

• By trimming some of the surplus skin or dermis, especially at the top, it may be more easily flattened. 

• Compare the dermis and the epidermis with reference to thickness, composition, and function. 

• No blood vessels are found in the epidermis, its nourishment being derived from the lymph which reaches it from the dermis.
