As has been pointed out, bulldozers are getting at this limestone, which is then sold for rockeries.
They have been subject to despoliation, principally to provide rock for garden rockeries.
That means that a farmer could not put it in his rockery.
The problem is not with the farmers at all; it is with others who have been extracting limestone pavement for rockeries in gardens.
Why should not the sale of limestone for use on a rockery be made an offence?
However, digging under people's back gardens, their favourite goldfish ponds, rockeries, tool sheds and back walls has never been tried before.
Finally, what is not generally known is that farmers have been known to sell complete walls to rockery contractors.
I am told, however, that there is still a loophole in the use of these limestone pavements for agricultural purposes and for rockeries, and that sort of thing.
