1 to complain continuously about something in a way that is annoying: --
We are not here to make the usual easy gibes about fat cats, or to gripe about the continual price increases.
There are always gripes about the relative pay.
It is not the rôle of a responsible body to turn itself into a sort of gripe factory.
My gripe at times is that it does not represent us internationally as eloquently and efficiently as it should.
They are not griping about self-interest but expressing deep concern for a profession in which they take pride.
Had e-mail not been so widely available, the criticism probably would have not become known outside the company; but the gripes would still have been there.
But these are small gripes.
These are minor gripes, however.
