There is a detached campanile to the southeast of the church.
It was rebuilt and extended in the course of the late eighteenth century, and acquired a fine campanile tower in the 1830s.
Visitors can enter the base room of the campanile; the stairs to the upper floors are locked, but are opened for visitors on occasion.
A curved elevator penthouse with projecting metal skirt rises above the shaft like a campanile.
The campanile fell down in the 1740s, demolishing the houses beside the canal in front, and much of the other stonework has been removed.
The 172ft m high chimney is concealed and disguised as a huge campanile topped by a cupola.
A presbytery adjoins the northeastern side, and at the opposite corner is the building's landmarka tall campanile with bell-chamber and copper roof.
The porticos and large open arches in the campanile are decorated with simple plate tracery.
