1 (especially of an animal) to make a series of small, weak sounds expressing pain or unhappiness:
The little dog was whimpering and crying because it was on a leash.
It is also interesting to look at the dogs who have not barked, or perhaps have only whimpered.
They have certainly paid very heavily and it should be said on their behalf, and by me, that they have not complained or whimpered.
He never whimpered, and he never quit.
