0 a small skin fold or fold of mucous membrane that limits the movement of a body part:
A short lingual frenulum may contribute to feeding, speech, and mechanical tongue problems.
The frenulum is too short to allow complete retraction of the foreskin (a condition called frenulum breve).
Frenulum breve is a frenulum that is insufficiently long to allow the foreskin to fully retract, which may lead to discomfort during intercourse.
In this condition the frenulum of the tongue restricts range of motion which may interfere with breastfeeding or speech.
It is related to frenuloplasty, a surgical alteration in a frenulum.
The frenulum may also be cut away at the same time, in a procedure called frenectomy.
After a few days the frenulum will weaken and eventually break apart to allow the prepuce to fully retract.
Alternatively, it may be treated by a reparative plastic surgery operation called a frenuloplasty, or by complete circumcision including resection of the frenulum (frenectomy).
They have a frenulum and retinaculum to join hind wings and fore wings.
